Emily Springer, widowed mom of one, decides to keep Leavenworth, Washington, to spend Christmas with her girl in Boston.

Charles Brewster, history teacher, curmudgeon and resident of Boston, really wants to avoid Xmas altogether. He figures a prison town should be fine and quiet over the holidays-except he’s thinking of the wrong Leavenworth!

Through an internet site, Charles and Emily arrange to swap houses for the holiday. Therefore Emily about Trading Xmas would go to Boston-and discovers that her little girl has gone to Florida. And Charles arrives in Leavenworth and discovers that it is not the jail town-it’s Santa’s town! The place is certainly full of Christmas trees, Christmas music and…elves.

In the mean time, Emily’s friend Trust Kerrigan moves to Leavenworth to visit her and rather discovers Charles, an avowed grinch. After that Charles’s brother, Ray, shows up at his home in Boston to discover that he isn’t there-but Emily can be.

Through all the mix-ups and misunderstandings, amid the chaos and confusion, romance begins to emerge in unexpected ways. Because everything adjustments at Christmas!
