Summary:
For eons, Globe has been under observation from the Firstborn, beings almost as older as the world itself. The Firstborn are unknown to humankind-until they take action. Immediately, Earth’s timeline is normally carved up and reassembled into a patchwork of different eras, from prehistory to the entire year 2037, each using its own indigenous inhabitants.
Scattered across the planet are floating silver precious metal orbs impervious to all weapons and impossible to talk to. Are these technologically advanced gadgets about Time’s Eyesight responsible for creating and sustaining the rifts in time? Are they cameras through which inscrutable alien eyes are watching? Or are they something stranger and more terrifying still?
The just clue is based on the ancient city of Babylon, where two groups of refugees from 2037-three cosmonauts and three UN peacekeepers-have detected strange radio signals. As the peacekeepers ally with nineteenth-century British troops as well as the armies of Alexander the fantastic, the cosmonauts get together with the Mongol horde led by Genghis Khan. Both edges lay out for Babylon, established to earn the race for knowledge-and the energy that lies within.
Yet the true power is beyond individual control, perhaps even individual understanding. As two great armies encounter off before the gates of Babylon, it watches, waiting around.
