Summary:
Persuaded they could build on the success of the already released motion-picture series, MGM Studios hired Lew Ayres and Lionel Barrymore to reprise their display screen roles as Dr. Adam Kildare and Dr. Leonard Gillespie within a syndicated radio series. Kildare was the compassionate, nurturing doctor at Blair General Hospital, NEW YORK; Gillespie a crusty, lovable diagnostician. Kildare reminded listeners every week in the starting personal: “Whatsoever home I enter, there am i going to go for the benefit about The Story of Dr. Kildare, Vol. 1 from the unwell, and whatever issues I find or hear concerning the existence of men I’ll maintain silent thereon, keeping track of such things to be kept as sacred trusts.”
From 1949, a complete of seventy-eight episodes were produced and syndicated in the united states. Stations nationwide continued to air The Story of Dr. Kildare on radio until 1954. In 1961, the series made a successful transition to tv starring Richard Chamberlain as Dr. Kildare, with Raymond Massey as Dr. Gillespie.
