Summary:
Fawn Bluefield, the smart young farmer lady, and Dag Redwing Hickory, the seasoned Lakewalker soldier-sorcerer, have been married all of two hours when they depart her family’s plantation for Dag’s house at Hickory Lake Camp. Having obtained a hesitant approval from Fawn’s family members for their improbable marriage, the few hopes to find a related reception among Dag’s Lakewalker kin. But their introduction is fulfilled with prejudice and suspicion, setting many in the camp against them, including Dag’s very own mom about The Sharing Blade, Vol. 2: Legacy and brother. A faction of Hickory Lake Camp, denying the literal bond between Dag and Fawn, woven in bloodstream in the marvelous method of the Lakewalkers, actually goes as far as to threaten long lasting exile for Dag.
Before their fate being a couple is decided, however, Dag is named apart by an unexpected—and viciously magical—malice attack on a neighboring hinterland, threatening Lakewalkers and farmers both. What his patrol discovers there can not only transformation Dag and his brand-new bride-to-be, but will call into question the uneasy relationship between their individuals—and may even offer a glimmer of hope for a less divided future.
Filled with heroic deeds, wondrous magic, and rich, all-too-human characters, The Writing Knife: Legacy reaches once a gripping adventure and a poignant romance in one of the very most imaginative and thoughtful writers in fantasy today.
