Summary:
The Russian scholar, Nicolai Notovich, was the first ever to suggest that Christ may have attended India. In 1887, Notovich, a Russian scholar and Orientalist, found its way to Kashmir during one of the journeys towards the Orient. At the Zoji-la pass Notovitch was a guest within a Buddhist monastery, in which a monk informed him from the bhodisattva saint called ‘Issa’. Notovitch was stunned by the extraordinary parallels of Issa’s teachings and martyrdom with that of Christ’s lifestyle, teachings and crucifixion.
For about about The Icon Enlightenment Series – Jesus In India The Shed Gospels sixteen years, Christ travelled through Turkey, Persia, Western Europe and perhaps England. He finally appeared with Mary to a location near Kashmir, where she died. After a long time in Kashmir, teaching for an appreciative inhabitants, who venerated him as a great prophet, reformer and saint, he passed away and was buried in a tomb in Kashmir itself.
The first step in Christ’s trail after the Crucifixion is found in the Persian scholar F. Mohammed’s traditional work ‘Jami-ut-tuwarik’ which tells of Christ’s appearance in the kingdom of Nisibis, by royal invitation. (Nisibis can be today referred to as Nusaybin in Turkey) . That is reiterated in the Imam Abu Jafar Muhammed’s ‘Tafsi-Ibn-i-Jamir at-tubri.’ Kersten discovered that in both Turkey and Persia you will find ancient stories of a saint known as ‘Yuz Asaf’ (‘Innovator of the Healed’), whose behavior, wonders and teachings are remarkably comparable to that of Christ.
