The only real survivor was a second steward named Poon Lim who, without knowledge of the ocean, were able to stay alive for 133 days on a little wooden raft. Based on three years of interviews, Singular Survivor reconstructs Poon’s extraordinary ordeal. We observe a ship’s crew that noticed him but refused to choose him up; his ingenious ways of trapping drinking water and catching seafood (later used in US Navy teaching films); and his entrance at land, only to think it is an impenetrable jungle.
