Summary:
BROOKLYN: Andi Alpers is within the advantage. She’s furious at her dad for leaving, upset at her mother for not having the ability to manage, and heartbroken by the increased loss of her younger brother, Truman. Trend and grief are destroying her. And she’s going to become expelled from Brooklyn Heights’ most esteemed private college when her dad intervenes. Today Andi must accompany him to Paris for winter season break.
PARIS: Alexandrine Paradis lived more than two centuries ago. She imagined making her tag in the Paris about Trend stage, but a fateful encounter having a doomed prince of France ensemble her within a tragic role she didn’t want-and couldn’t escape.
Two girls, two centuries apart. One never understanding the other. But when Andi discovers Alexandrine’s journal, she recognizes something in her phrases and is moved to the point of obsession. There’s ease and comfort and distraction for Andi in the journal’s classic pages-until, on a midnight journey through the catacombs of Paris, Alexandrine’s words transcend paper and time, and days gone by becomes suddenly, terrifyingly present.
Jennifer Donnelly, writer of the award-winning book A Northern Light, artfully weaves two women’ stories into one memorable account of lifestyle, reduction, and enduring love. Revolution spans generations and vividly depicts the eternal problems of the human heart.
