Inner Sanctum Mystery, Collection 1 Audiobook (Free)
Summary:
Taking its name from a favorite group of mystery novels, Inner Sanctum Mystery debuted over NBC’s Blue Network in January 1941. Inner Sanctum Mystery highlighted probably one of the most memorable and atmospheric opportunities in radio history: an organist hit a dissonant chord, a doorknob transformed and the well-known “creaking door” slowly began to open up. Every week, Internal Sanctum Mystery informed stories of ghosts, murderers and lunatics. Produced in NY, the cast generally contains veteran radio stars, with about Inner Sanctum Mystery, Collection 1 occasional guest looks by such Hollywood superstars as Boris Karloff, Peter Lorre and Claude Rains. What produced Inner Sanctum Mystery exclusive among radio horror displays was its host, a slightly sinister sounding fellow originally referred to as “Raymond.” The host had a droll sense of humor and an hunger for ghoulish puns, and his influence is seen among horror hosts everywhere, in the Crypt-Keeper to Elvira. Raymond Edward Johnson was the present’s web host until 1945; Paul McGrath had taken over as host until the display left the air in 1952. Producer Himan Dark brown would utilize the creaking door once again in the 1970s, when he produced and aimed The CBS Radio Mystery Theater. 4/24/45 Song from the Slasher
