Full Tilt Audiobook (Free)
Summary:
Full Tilt is the motivating true story of Dervla Murphy’s 1963 trip from Ireland to India on an Armstrong Cadet bike and the tests, landscapes and ethnicities she encountered along the way. The route will take her through the valleys and snowy hill passes of European countries and India towards the scorching deserts of Afghanistan and Pakistan, where in fact the metal of her bicycle, Rozinante (called after Don Quixote’s steed), turns into too sizzling to contact. She travels only, without luxuries, sleeping in the floors of teahouses or on blankets outdoors, vulnerable to wildlife, insects and thieves. Nevertheless, she is often fulfilled with generosity and kindness, and shares many significant encounters using the local people. Her portrayal here gives a fascinating insight into the unique communities of the Middle East in the early 1960s.
