Summary:
The TARDIS materialises on a planet where in fact the age of prosperity comes frequently, and precious jewels line the streets like litter. Overseeing the residents may be the bombastic Captain, fifty percent human and fifty percent machine. Lurking in shadows are the Mentiads, inexplicable cowled statistics who established their sights on certain individuals and claim them because of their own.
As the physician, Romana and K9 become entangled in local events these are caught between your evidently insane Captain and apparently sinister Mentiads. But the Doctor makes an awful discovery beneath the surface of the planet, and realises the true nature of the Captain’s operations.
Soon just one more globe comes under danger through the Captain, one that your Doctor has learned well: Earth. Can he manage to conserve it from an awful fate?
John Leeson narrates this basic full-cast TV experience, compiled by Douglas Adams (The Hitchhiker’s Guidebook towards the Galaxy), and in a special reward interview he recalls his period as the Voice of K9 in the BBC Television series.
