After World War III, the Servants of Wrath cult deified the mysterious Carlton Lufteufel, creator from the doomsday weapon that wiped out much of humanity. But to worship the man, they need an image of him being a god, and no one has ever noticed him. Therefore the high priests send a limbless professional painter named Tibor McMasters into the wilderness on a mission to discover Lufteufel and capture his likeness. Unfortunately for Tibor, the country’s remaining Christians do not need him to achieve success and are willing to kill to ensure that the so-called Deus Irae remains concealed. This hallucinatory story through a nuclear wasteland asks what price the designer must purchase art and attempts to determine just what makes a god.
