Bruce Cable owns a popular bookstore in the sleepy resort city of Santa Rosa on Camino Isle in Florida. He makes his real money, though, as a prominent seller in uncommon books. Hardly any people know that he sometimes dabbles in the dark market of taken books and manuscripts.

Mercer Mann is normally a novelist with a severe case of writer’s block who has recently been let go from her teaching placement. She is approached by a stylish, strange woman working for a far more mystical company. A ample offer of money convinces Mercer to visit undercover and infiltrate Bruce Cable’s group of literary friends, ideally getting close enough to him to learn his secrets.

But ultimately Mercer learns far too much, and there’s problems in paradise mainly because just John Grisham can deliver it.
