Thus Spoke Zarathustra was conceived and written by Friedrich Nietzsche during the years 1881-1885; the first three parts had been released in 1883 and 1884. The reserve formed element of his ‘campaign against morality’, in which Nietzsche explored the ethical consequences of the ‘death of God’. Seriously critical not merely of Christian ideals but also of their modern replacements, Therefore Spoke Zarathustra argues for a fresh value-system based around the prophecy of the Ãœbermensch or Superman. Its appropriation with the National Socialist motion in Germany early in the twentieth hundred years provides tainted its popularity unjustly; but a couple of signs the rehabilitation of Nietzsche, and of this his most incendiary work, is almost full.
