Summary:
Matthew Waterhouse reads this novelisation of a classic 1982 TV serial featuring the Fifth Doctor, as played on TV by Peter Davison. When the TARDIS materialises with an alien space craft, the commander of the dispatch – the reptilian Monarch – invites the Doctor, Adric, Nyssa and Tegan to keep their trip to Earth in his company. Monarch’s hospitality actually extends to a generous give to liberate enough time travellers from the shortcomings of their bodies and replicate them as androids – so much more useful. Although Adric discovers this proposal incredibly attractive, the Doctor has justification to be suspicious of Monarch’s motives… Matthew Waterhouse, who performed Adric in Doctor Who, reads Terrance Dicks’s novelisation of a four-part TV serial by Terence Dudley.
