Summary:
This timeless comedy of manners is considered one of Molière’s most probing and mature works. While it’s still an exemplar of 16th century farce, Molière proceeded to go beyond his normal comic inventiveness to create a world of wealthy, complex characters, specifically in the cynical name character Alceste, performed here from the Tony Award-winning professional Brian Bedford.
Lead funding because of this production is supplied by the Sidney E. Frank Foundation.
This recording also contains an interview with Larry F. Norman author of “The Open public Mirror: Molière and the Social Business of Depiction”.
