The Merchant of Venice Audiobook (Free)
Summary:
In Shakespeare’s most controversial play, the opposing values of justice and mercy should be resolved. Antonio promises money to greatly help his friend Bassanio woo Portia. He borrows the sum needed through the cruel Shylock, but there will be a dreadful charges if the loan isn’t repaid.
The golden world of Portia’s Belmont calls forth a few of Shakespeare’s most lyrical love poetry. However the dark shadow of Shylock is never far from the heart of the brilliant comedy as it goes toward its courtroom climax.
Portia is played by Hadyn Gwynne and Shylock by Trevor Peacock. Julian Rhind-Tutt can be Bassanio, and Bill Nighy is normally Antonio.
