It must seem strange for you that I’ve called a publication Alanatomy.

For anyone who has taken enough time to see my stand-up performances or watched my chat show, ‘Chattyman’, knows that my own body has hardly been kind to me – in fact there’ve been occasions when we’ve actually stopped speaking with each other. Why do you draw attention to it? you must ask. Couldn’t you just call the publication something else? Do you think the Great British isles Public is ready to pore over the body?

Well, simply because I convert forty and take stock of my showbiz lifestyle during the last ten years or so, I’ve learnt to embrace my flaws and face my shortcomings. In fact, strange as it can seem, the items I hate about myself have become my trademark and I am gradually, begrudgingly understanding how to, if not really like them, to at least live with them. I am ready now to have a long hard take a look at myself and that is what Alanatomy is certainly. It’s the tale of my rise to popularity: the joys, the traumas, the parties, the disappointments. Ideally you will find it witty, fun, heartwarming, but more importantly honest, and that it will keep you entertained each and every time you select it up.

Alanatomy may be the chance for you to get beneath my pores and skin and see the true me because, and to continue the anatomical theme easily might, this showbiz lifestyle can sometimes feel like an autopsy – picked in, probed and scrutinized with every in . of the body organized for evaluation, but unlike a genuine autopsy, you are very much alive.

So I offer you Alanatomy: The Inside Tale. I am laying myself from the slab for your entertainment; nude, stripped bare. Get your scalpel, peel back the skin and move deep, have an excellent old probe around within my life so far. Yes, you will find guts, a good bit of cheek, maybe even a little bit of gristle, but hopefully, you’ll find a lot of heart.
